Shareholder Outreach
Jamaica Producers Group Limited (JP) is committed to finding all of our shareholders (referred to as ‘members’ in the Articles of Incorporation of JP) and to making distributions of assets, dividends and bonus shares to these shareholders in accordance with the Articles of Incorporation of JP.
JP, formerly the Jamaica Banana Producers Association Limited, was founded as a banana growers’ co-operative in 1929 with an initial group of over 6,000 shareholders. Since that time, many of these shareholders have lost contact with JP. The most common reasons why we may have lost contact with our shareholders are:
- Shareholders may have changed addresses and did not notify our registrars of their new address;
- Beneficiaries or executors of an estate may have been unaware of the shareholding;
- Shareholders could have forgotten or may have been confused about their shareholding; or
- Small value share certificates may have been lost and/or forgotten.
For good order, JP has taken measures to safeguard the interests of these shareholders, while seeking to locate them, and restore their contact with the company.
